VIA FERRATA TRAILS
What via ferrata is? It is a mountain trail prepared to be walked or climbed with minimum safety equipment: climbing harness and set of via ferrata lanyards. The climb is euipped with made of steel fixed ropes, sometime also fixed ladders. Climbers or walkers use their lanyards to be clipped into fixed ropes against the fall - most of via ferratas are prepared in exposed mountain locations.
The Dolomites in Italy are a very popular place to walk/climb via ferratas. They can be more or less steep and on the most difficult and very exposed via ferratas there is mandatory one-way traffic. Although most via ferratas can be walked just with harness and set of lanyards, some require use of climbing rope or use of climbing rope makes walking much easier and safer.
Each via ferrata walk is preceded with instruction and demonstration of equipment and belaying techniques we use during climbing.
